He was bone weary and beyond ready to be home again… if you could call the cot he slept on in the corner of the old factory home, anyways. He rarely even slept there, anymore. Most of his nights were spent with Sheri in her bunk. He might not ever say it, but she was the reason he’d agreed to stay here in the colony. He only trusted himself, and the fact that there was a colony full of people that he didn’t know, or really care to know, for that matter, drove him nuts.

But he’d do it for Sheri. Her safety came first and foremost, and luckily, he wasn’t the only one that felt that way. Sheri’s older sister was as tough as nails on the outside, but Josh knew that once someone got to know Sinclaire, she was really a very kind, giving person. The only reason he’d agreed to go off on a long scouting patrol, alone, was because he knew Sinclaire was there to look after Sheri and keep her safe.

Josh stopped less than a klick away from his destination to rehydrate, the fence around the factory visible in the distance. Glancing around, he readjusted his sniper rifle and continued on, listening for the sounds of the security team within the colony walls whistling to each other to communicate that someone was approaching. When he got close enough, he gave an agreed upon signal whistle to let them know it was him, nodding at the men who opened the gate for him.

He wanted to see Sheri, but he knew he had to see her sister first, so he headed to Sinclaire’s room without talking to anyone else beyond a greeting. After an hour of giving her the information he’d acquired in his patrol, he headed to Sheri’s room, hoping she’d be there. After giving a sharp rap on her door, Josh pushed it open, his eyes drinking in the sight of her for a moment before he stepped inside.

to light your way home
Sheridan had a hard time seeing Josh leave on a scouting patrol. But she had to let him do what he needed too. She after all, had to recover from her ordeal. But, when she found out she was pregnant; she wanted to go out and find him. She wasn't sure how long it would take for him to return. And she didn't want him to return and her be showing; having to explain. Not that he would make her. They have always had a very honest relationship. Aside from really saying how they felt; but rather putting those actions in place. She knew without a shadow of doubt that Josh cared about her.

However, Sin was right. If she had gone out, and something happen to her. She could not imagine what this would do to Josh. Especially if he found out then that she was pregnant and risked not only her own life; but the life of their unborn child. She could not do that to him.

Sheri had helped Nate with the water system for the agriculture area. Using a variety of things she known from working on gardening with her parents just before leaving home. Not quite the skill set she had planned on having to use. But, she at least had one useful; aside from stripping. Aside from bartending. Deep down, Sheri was glad she could do something that kept her mind off missing Josh so damn much. Made it easier until she was alone and needing him. Then she had only the unborn baby that she is carrying to keep her company.

Sheri wasn't sure to really be happy about this. After all, this wasn't something that her and Josh readily discussed. Sure, the thought crossed her mind if things did get serious. If they did marry at some point; but she could not bring herself to discuss this with him earlier on. In spite of their very active relationship; they always knew the risk were there.

She was in her room when she heard the door. In her mind, she thought that it was her sister or another colonist that was coming to fetch her for working on the gardening. She wasn't always sure their reasons to coming over. Or maybe her sister had sent someone to check on her. In case she needed help. Sheri was beginning to wonder if Sin was going to let her be a big girl. She outta. Sheri was having a baby of her own.

Catching the door open in the corner of her eye. She couldn't help but look. As soon as she saw it was Josh; Sheri smiled. "Josh!" She moved fast onto her feet and rushed over to him. Wrapping her arms around him as soon as she could. "I missed you!" she vocalized just before her lips claimed his in a kiss.

Josh hadn’t expected anything less from Sheri as her arms wrapped around him, their lips meeting in a loving kiss. Pulling away slightly so he could look her over, Josh smiled at her, running a hand through his hair as he looked around the room before murmuring, “Me too. How have you been?

Looking back into her eyes, Josh allowed himself a moment to simply lose himself in them, his hand reaching up to brush the soft skin of her cheek gently. For someone who could kill a man with his bare hands, Josh was surprisingly tender when he touched Sheri, as if she was a porcelain figurine he was scared of damaging if he was too rough. Sheri was the one good, pure thing he had in his life, and he’d be damned if he wouldn’t do pretty much anything to keep her safe and happy.

Leaning in for another kiss, Josh pulled away and sank down into the nearest chair, huffing a happy, almost silent little sigh at finally being ‘home’. He had never really had a home. He had gone into the military as soon as he turned eighteen, not wanting to spend any more time in a home he had never felt comfortable in. Sheri made him feel comfortable, though, and she was the only person he really trusted.

Fill me in on what’s going on around here,” Josh said softly, his eyes looking lovingly into hers.

to light your way home
Josh being away hurt her in ways. But she knew that before the bombs the man would be deployed on jobs that she might not know anything about. And deal with the fear of something happening. She wasn't sure if she would have been told what happens to him; so it always scared her that she would never know. Much like these days. Sheri never overlooked one moment with him. She took advantage and made that one moment last.

As he wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her. His pulling away worried her as she wondered if he would be able to notice something now. She was slightly showing. But she was wearing something lose fitting.

“Me too. How have you been?”

"Missing you like crazy! But, I have been working around the colony..." She wanted to tell him. She should have continued. She however was lost in the man's touch as he brushed her cheek gently. He was a man who could kill with his bare hands, but she knew the tenderness of his touch. How can she not love the way he made her feel with just a touch.

She kissed him back, and watched as he got into the chair. She probably should let the man rest. But she missed him terribly. It had been so long. She slipped onto his lap as soon as she could. Her touch soft. She moved her hands onto his shoulders feeling some tension in them. She proceeded to work on relating his muscles in his shoulders as much as she can from sitting on his lap.

“Fill me in on what’s going on around here,”

Looking in his eyes lovingly as she was working on his shoulders and relaxing him. "Things have been hectic around here. I been put full time on the AG area. We have a few new seeds that we acquired through trade." Sheri said. She found herself just looking into his eyes. "I am doing better since what happened!" She wanted him to know that she wasn't broken from that ordeal with Henry. "I promise!" Sheri moved closer and kissed Josh.

Josh kissed Sheri back, his arms going around her protectively. He would never let her see the silent rage he had burning away inside him for what had been done to her – but the man who had done it would suffer by his hand at some point. There were few things that Josh would ever kill a man in cold blood over – but Henry deserved what he had coming from Josh.

Pulling away from Sheri again, Josh smiled at her. “I knew you would do well working in the Ag area. Do we have any good crops coming up yet? How about the irrigation system? Any luck with that yet?” Josh knew Sheri had been given a clean bill of health by the colony doctor, yet he still looked her over as he spoke. She looked different, somehow, but he couldn’t place anything out of sorts just yet.
